More offsite Ikon work again, this time I was in the newly renovated Medicine Cafe and Gallery at the top of New Street. Which was the original RBSA Space! It's showing all this amazing work from 8 artists who were living and working in Birmingham during the sixties. Which includes the four founding members of Ikon Gallery. Including my old friend Jesse Bruton who's show I worked so intensely on in 2016.

I was already very familiar with the early days of Ikon Gallery and how all these individuals were involved anyway, thanks to that 2016 show and the interning I had done, so I found it really easy to talk to the visitors about that history, many of who had first hand experience with Ikon's earlier spaces, including when it was a roaming gallery and would use that exact space that we were in when it belonged to the RBSA.

I love talking about these eight artists with people and how they helped bring new art to the city.
