Coventry Biennial 2017

I had the privilege to get very stuck in with the first ever Coventry Biennial that was opened in Autumn 2017.

From volunteering my time in their office performing additional administrative tasks, taking a big role in the deep deep clean of the old Coventry Evening Telegraph that was it's hub, managing volunteers, installing work, applying vinyl signs, helping out at the opening, generally running errands for the director and learning coordinator and invigilating the space throughout the programme.

I was a vital artist assistant for the Hipkiss and Graney Dead Shrines project that was being built in the car park. I would spend the days helping them build this giant sculpture, burning cedar wood, (shosugiban), making sure no one caught fire, holding the ladder as Hipkiss balanced precariously on a 12 foot high beam with a drill and nails in his mouth so he wouldn't fall and break his neck, hammering things into place, and assisting at events, and so on:
